Business Owners Are the Happiest Workers

For many of us, the satisfaction we have with our job is affected by the passion we have for what we are doing.

Based on the results of a recent Gallup survey, entrepreneurs are the happiest workers. In a poll of more than 100,000 Americans in 11 sectors, business owners scored highest (72.5) in "overall well-being".

The overall well-being was measured by questions on six key areas of their lifestyles: work environment, self-evaluation, physical health; healthy behaviors (such as not smoking), emotional satisfaction, and access to basic necessities (such as food, shelter and health care).

While business owners may not make as much money as professionals (ranked second) and managers/executives (ranked third), they rank in job satisfaction and work environment making them as the happiest Americans.

Well, I would have to agree with that. In my opinion, if the business owner is a part of the founding team, the higher the chances that he or she is happy with his or her job. If you consider all of the advancements in technology, being happy isn't a hard thing to reach for entrepreneurs. There are software that can help you in documentation (spreadsheets, word processors like the programs in the MS Office bundle), and accounting (like the Peachtree Quantum series).

These software has added not just to the efficiency of a worker, but also to his or her convenience, because he can easily get his job done. In my case, accounting has never been easier with Peachtree Quantum 2011. Making presentations wouldn't be easy without PowerPoint, etc.

It would be great if the scores for each key area for the top three happiest workers were given so that an in-depth comparison can be done. There are chances that the professionals and/or the managers can lead in a certain key area. I have a question, by the way. Would you consider the facilities at work, may they be hardware or software, as a part of the "work environment" key?
